I would have been real tempted to leave the whole length un-cut and try that first - it was like 12' right? 28Hz loading, stuffed a little and it would be damn efficent. Sure it would have a real low wife acceptance factor but could sound really sweet, depending on the Fs of that driver. Assuming it would fit in the house

There he goes, one of god's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live... too rare to die.
