Building a box for my Bronco

Postby posjr » Wed Nov 15, 2006 1:10 pm

Was little bored last night so i went and bought a sheet of wood for 20 bucks. And took the wood tools out of the closet. Before i had everything just lying around. Was a miss. And than my wife went and dropped about a gollan of soap in the back. So now the carpet is all soapy. So i ripped the carpet out and started cutting some wood. So what i was planning to do is build a box around my solo baric box. And than use that box to mount my equipment and mybe a set of speakers. Still need some touching up to do. Cut to much around the curves.

its just a beauty panel right?
if it is...then take come pipe insulation and run it around the edges..that'll fill in the gaps and look good too.
Most of us guys that have walls use that around the face.

Yes its just a wall to hide the wires and to make it look better. I'll try it. I'll pick some up tonight.

Do ypu think it would be a bad ideal to mount two speakers on top. Its not part of the sub box?

well...the oem speaker locations are to the right and left of that correct?
I don't see any reason why sinking them into those panels would hurt.

Have it.. ;)

They sit lower amost 1 foot off the floor plus they are 6x8's. I have a pair of DS60 i can put in which are better than those 6x8. Would it be a bad ideal to put all four. Leave the 6x8 in the stock place which are kickers and put the ds60 in the box. But than how would i wire them up?

i wouldn't wire it all up...
I'd disconnect the ones in the OEM locations and use the ones you mount in the panel of the box.

I can't tell if this is what you were going to do, but you don't want those 6 x 8's or any other mid/high speakers sharing the same airspace as the subs. don't cut them into the same box the subs are in, mount them on a different panel.

Heres where i'm at right now. Got everything mounted. Just need to do all the wiring and build a box for the 6inch kickers.
