Americans all like "eh" at heart

Postby kevox » Thu May 10, 2007 2:56 pm

I was thinkin about the whole "eh" thing the other day and came to realize something....

For the longest time it bothered me when people, usually Americans, would say "hey" at the end of their sentences like when agreeing with someone they'd say "ya hey!" or "I know hey" and then it just hit me...."hey" is the same thing as "eh" only with the added "h" sound, really what those Americans are saying is a disguised "eh":)

I now have a new-found love for Americans who say hey but hate on Canadians for sayin eh....thoughts?

I know no one who says 'hey' at the end of their sentences. I know plenty of Cananananananadans who say eh, but they don't say it as frequently as parodies would portray.

But hey, what do I know, eh? :D

I've only heard "hey" used in the beginning of a statement to get attention, but I've never heard it used at the end like "eh".

We're stereotypical Americans, you stereotype us and we respond in a stereotypical manner...Damn Dually!

No, 'hey' is actually a word, but you Canadians are just backwards. However, with poor spelling you collectively came up with "eh" instead of "yeh".
