Wireless card recommendations

Postby JimJ[VT] » Mon Mar 27, 2006 5:15 pm

Hey all -

I'm looking for a PCMCIA wireless card that's reasonably priced, that has an external antenna connector - I've got a 60cm dish left over from a satellite project that would make a perfect Wifi link to the campus network if I built a patch feed for it...I'm on the third floor and have a nice LOS :)

All the cards I've seen that do this and fit in laptops are over $100, anything cheaper out there?

Thanks.

Hmm...think I've found something that'll work...

Now to overcome cable losses @ 2.4GHz...yikes :(

Hopefully Belden 9913 should be good enough for what I need it to do.

That's what I have on two of my laptops and have never had a problem with them. Hell, I pick up all of my neighbors signals with it over 200ft. away.
