8500's are known to false alarm on Laser. Have three friends with them and they all do it, so there may not have been one when it went off.

Man ever since that one time it went off on LASER, its been going off a lot. Just about every day now it goes off twice in the stupidest locations. I know it is just about useless since it goes off all the time now so I just muted it (it is afterall the loudest alert of them all).

I had extremely good luck with my Valentine One. I rarely had false alarms and numerous times it warned me of cops about 1/2 mile down the road. I sold it though as the times I got caught speeding were out of my own stupidity, and the radar detector couldn't have saved me. I never once have been caught speeding on the interestate and last week alone I drove 1000+ miles, most speeding 10-20 mph over the limit.

I'm so confused. Some people tell me the 8500 is better than the Valentine One, some don't. Which is it?

Better? Valentine One!

Edit: On a side note, I guess, with speeding, my biggest problem has always been owning vehicles that are not equipped with cruise control...

I have never used the 8500 so I can't comment on that, I was just amazed with the Valentine One, but I think driving smarter when speeding (oxymoron?) is the key.

I'm not even gonna talk about that one.
